About PROXX
PROXX is what minesweeper becomes when a modern web team takes it seriously. The core loop is familiar: reveal tiles, read the numbers, mark the danger, clear the rest. What sets PROXX apart is the execution. The board is a clean dark-neon grid, every reveal animates, long-presses flag mines on touch, and haptic feedback fires on supported devices so you feel a wrong guess before you see it.
Beyond the surface, PROXX is also a technical showpiece — it was built by the Google Chrome team as a demonstration of how smooth a web app can feel when it is built properly. Five grid sizes from a quick 5×5 warmup to a punishing 40×40, three difficulty presets, and full offline play once it has cached. It is the rare reimagining that respects the original design while removing every papercut. Free, no account, no ads cluttering the board, works identically on phone and desktop.
How to Play
Click or tap a tile to reveal it. A number tells you how many of its eight neighbors are mines. Long-press (or right-click) to flag a tile you believe is a mine. Clear every non-mine tile to win; hit a mine and you lose.
Strategy: start from the middle of the board — corner and edge tiles have fewer neighbors and give weaker information. When a number equals its count of unrevealed neighbors, all of those neighbors are mines: flag them. When a number equals its count of flagged neighbors, every other neighbor is safe: chord-click the number to clear them all at once. Use the largest grid size only when you have time to think.
